Earthquake Round 2

Tracy just experienced her first earthquake minutes ago. For me it's my second in just three months. We will have to watch the news tonight to see what magnitude it registered at...UPDATE...it was a 5.0 magnitude. It was fairly small, but it had enough pop to tip over Dan and Miranda...the picture frame. Maybe we will secure a few of the items a little better as we finish setting up the apartment.

It seems like quake activity has picked up recently. We are overdue for at least a 6 magnitude soon. I wouldn't be surprised if a 7 or better rips off while we are here!

The last quake had more rumble to it. This one was more of a pop with one light rumble and a hard jolt. This was .9 larger than the last one, which is a pretty significant size difference. See my last earthquake post to understand just how much magnitude differences impact overall fell. Got to love living close to the fault line!

We will keep you posted with a detailed update on the apartment tomorrow.

Gas Total

So, we left New Hope, MN with 3/4th a tank of gas and ended up in SoCal with the same amount in the tank. We filled up a total of 6 times with a couple of those fill-ups just topping off during food / stretch breaks.

We actually came in under our estimate at $110.99. If you add in another $22 to fill up the Jetta after our trip down to San Diego to pick up my truck on Sunday, we are at $132.99. Not bad!!

We spent about $30 in food and $109.95 for a night stay in Amarillo. Oh, lest we forget about the $5.25 to drive through Kansas of all places. The trip total was $278.19. The best news is it's not costing us a dime, it's covered as moving expense.

Speaking of moving, the movers show up tomorrow with the rest of our stuff, it's going to be a busy week trying to keep up with the to-do list.

Stage II Complete!!!

After 2102 miles our journey came to a close without incident at our apartment. We came, we saw, we conquered or something like that. We will have the final tallies on fuel costs tomorrow. For now we were happy to finish the road trip at 30 hours and 45 minutes on the road with one night in Amarillo ... Strangely enough only 8 miles from the exact midpoint on our route.

Well, the last 325 miles really wore me down after Tracy called for the righty from the pen. We are both overly tired and excited to start our true journey living together!!

2-For-2

We made it through the snow and we didn't hit any elk, which is nice. The National Park by Flagstaff is known for elk and a sign warned of their presence for 65 miles. We did see one unlucky elk ko'd on the side of the road. I can't even imagine what that vehicle looked like after the impact. Either way the elk got the worse end of the deal. More light fluries again, but it shouldn't be an issue for our superstar Tracy who hails from even snowier Sota.
